Queen Mathilde of Belgium stepped out on Wednesday in a monochromatic butter yellow ensemble for the second and final day of the Belgian state visit to Norway.
The Queen embraced bright colors on the a dreary Scandinavian day in a short-sleeved textured dress with a boat neckline with matching cape and wide headband, and opera-length gloves. But what was most striking was her bright gold jewelry, a set that included a pair of large, sundial-like earrings and an abstract gold brooch pinned to her left lapel.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, accompanied by Crown Prince Haakon, began the day with a visit to the Nobel Peace Center, where the program focused on the defense of international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians. The group are then attending a business seminar on offshore wind at the Oslo Opera House before visiting the Norse Wind, a new vessel operated by the Belgian offshore energy group DEME. Belgium’s Foreign Affairs Office previously said this visit would focus on talks concerning sustainability and security, notably the “situation in Ukraine and the Middle East” as well as “NATO, the transatlantic relationship, security in the Arctic, and the reform of the United Nations.” The Belgian royal couple will close out the visit with a reception at the National Museum this evening.

Last night, the Norwegian royals hosted the King and Queen of Belgium for a formal state banquet. Dressed in a champagne-hued Armani Privé gown, Queen Mathilde wore the Nine Provinces Tiara, a headpiece that she has worn on several formal occasions as well as for royal portraits. Norway’s Queen Sonja also wore a fascinating headpiece: Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara, which is actually a replica of its original, which was stolen a few decades ago.

Earlier on Tuesday, Crown Prince Haakon welcomed the Belgian King and Queen, dressed in head-to-toe blush pink Dior, at Oslo Airport, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the national monument at Akershus Fortress, a medieval castle dating back to the 1290s. They were later joined by King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway for an official welcome ceremony outside of the Royal Palace in Oslo’s city center. Crown Princess Mette-Marit made a surprise appearance inside the palace for an official photo, but she did not appear at the state banquet.
