‘CBS Mornings’ Ratings Disaster as Show Has Worst Week Ever

CBS News is continuing to struggle under Bari Weiss‘ leadership. The network’s morning program, CBS Mornings, had its lowest-rated week ever for the week of July 13.

CBS Mornings brought in an average viewership of 1.59 million, dipping below 1.6 million for the first time since ratings have been recorded, per Mediaite. Compared to the same week last year, CBS Mornings saw a 13% decline in viewership, bringing in 1.83 million for the week beginning on July 14, 2025.

Weiss took over as editor-in-chief of CBS News in October after Paramount+’s merger with Skydance. Since then, she has been implementing major changes at the network, and ratings have struggled. Per Mediaite, CBS Mornings had its worst-rated June ever following the firing of Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes at the beginning of the month.

Pelley’s firing came after he criticized Weiss’ leadership. Other changes at the program include the exits of Sharyn Alfonsi, Cecilia Vega, and Anderson Cooper. CBS Evening News has also struggled in the ratings with Tony Dokoupil at the helm. He took over as anchor of the evening news program in January.

Viewers have been waiting to see if Weiss will implement any changes at CBS Mornings, with some fearing King may be the next to go. However, the longtime journalist renewed her deal with the network in March

“I’m excited about continuing at CBS Mornings,” she said at the time. “As always, I’m open to new adventures here and ready to go.” This came after previous reports claimed King was going to leave CBS News because of Weiss.
