- Charlie Cox teases some "very unexpected revelations" after that Bullseye cliffhanger in *Daredevil: Born Again'*s season 2 premiere.

- The actor sets the stage for the impending Fisk-vs-Daredevil brawl: "The filming of it was rough."

- Cox also shares how the show recreates a piece by Daredevil comic artist Alex Maleev in live-action.

**Warning: This article contains spoilers from *Daredevil: Born Again* season 2, "The Northern Star."**

The *Daredevil: Born Again* season 2 premiere left us with a joyous cliffhanger. On a mission to build a resistance and take down Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) is ambushed by task force agents and unmasked as Matt Murdock. When all feels lost, in swoops his guardian angel.

Though he isn't seen, Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) slings a flurry of throwing knives that take out Matt's assailants. The camera comes into focus on one of the blades, which contains the message, "You're Welcome." The man who never misses is back after a reduced role in season 1.

Cox, speaking with ** during his lunch break on set of season 3, praises Bethel's work this season.

"It's a really complicated relationship," the actor says of the Daredevil-Bullseye dynamic. "Wilson's character this season is very confronting to Matt, who he is and what he represents and what he seems to be trying to do makes it much, much harder for Matt to out-and-out loathe him and hate him. That's a real testament to Dario [Scardapane, showrunner] and the writers for making the Bullseye character go down a path that is so unexpected. And it leads to some very, I think, interesting conversations and very unexpected revelations about both of those people."

It's complicated, of course, because of the Foggy of it all. Among the season 1 revelations came the news that Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) was the one who unleashed Bullseye to assassinate Matt's best friend. Elden Henson returns to the role for season 2, though Cox isn't sure he can address that character without giving away the context.

What he can say is this: "Foggy Nelson is kind of like the heartbeat of the MCU, and not having him around as much has been devastating. So when I found out that he was going to visit us for a brief period, I was very excited."

Is there a 'Daredevil: Born Again' spoiler in the 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' trailer?

For Cox, the real meat and potatoes of season 2 are in the "nuanced and subtler" plotting of the character evolution. Dancing around spoilers, he references a decision that Matt makes in the ending, one which he's clear-minded about making. Here in the beginning, he still struggles to reclaim that confidence.

"He's so unsure about himself, so he relies on Karen Page [Deborah Ann Woll]," Cox explains. "She makes the decisions, she calls the shots, she's running the show, and he just executes. He's almost having to hand over the reins because he doesn't trust in his ability to make good decisions in that department anymore. It was fun to do that knowing we're gonna get to a place where he's like, 'I know what I have to do and now I'm gonna do it.'"

Cox and Woll are firmly back together as a more prominent two-hander this season, which was a stark contrast to season 1 and feels closer to the original Netflix *Daredevil* show. With the additional return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones — coming later this season — and the premiere of Jon Bernthal's Punisher streaming special one week after the *Daredevil: Born Again* season 2 finale, Cox agrees, "It certainly felt more like the good old days. And getting a lot more screen time with Deb is just an absolute dream."

There will be plenty of twists and turns to come, but one that early trailers teased is an impending clash between Fisk and Daredevil. Marvel fans haven't gotten a proper round of fisticuffs with these two titans since season 3 of Netflix's *Daredevil*, but the two will indeed come to blows. Cox teases what's ahead.

"The filming of it was rough," he recalls. "The location is a very dark, dingy, cold, depressing basement in Soho somewhere. I'm in the Daredevil suit, which has its challenges, and Vincent wears the Fisk [bodysuit] underneath his costume, and that is incredibly debilitating to him. So there's a funny feeling because you go into those work days knowing you're making something that's got a good chance of being something that the fans remember from the whole season, that it's gonna be one of the talked-about moments, but you're also aware that the next two days are gonna be hard — like really, really long, hard days — and your body is gonna really feel it."

The sequence, Cox continues, will feature a live-action recreation of a piece by Daredevil comic book artist Alex Maleev.

"He did a painting for me and he did a painting Vincent, but the painting he did for Vincent was a very specific image," Cox recalls. "When I saw it, I told Phil Silvera [second unit director] about it and I said, 'We should try to get this image in the show.' And they did."

New episodes of *Daredevil: Born Again* season 2 will arrive on Disney+ every Tuesday night starting at 9 p.m. ET. Episodes 2 and 3 will drop simultaneously next week on March 31.
