The president's eldest son married Bettina in the Bahamas, shortly after quietly filing a marriage application in Florida. The pair exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony on a private island on Saturday, May 23, surrounded by a select group of guests.
Among the attendees were the groom's siblings - Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump - along with their respective spouses. Bettina's family members and several close friends were also present. However, the president declined to attend the wedding amid reports of a "difficult" history with his son.

Following their ceremony, Bettina shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram story. The 39-year-old posted a black-and-white photograph displaying her hand resting on her new husband's, showcasing their wedding bands.
Alongside the romantic image, she wrote, "Forever yours, forever mine," accompanied by a white love heart emoji, and tagged Donald Jr.'s personal Instagram account.

Bettina, 39, is a model and socialite, daughter of Florida entrepreneur Harry Loy Anderson Jr. and philanthropist Inger Anderson. According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, the newlyweds are hoping to host a wedding celebration at the White House at some point in the future.
No White House weddings have taken place during President Trump's second term. The most recent White House wedding took place in November 2022, when Naomi Biden, Joe Biden's granddaughter, married Peter Neal on the South Lawn.

The last wedding of a president's child at the White House was in 1971, when Tricia Nixon, President Richard Nixon's daughter, wed Edward Finch Cox in the Rose Garden, reports the Irish Star.
It may have been fortunate that the couple opted against holding their celebration at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue this past weekend, as a shooting incident unfolded on Saturday evening, May 22.

The perpetrator was fatally shot after opening fire on Secret Service agents in the area surrounding the White House. Multiple gunshots were heard at approximately 6 p.m. local time, prompting journalists stationed at the White House to seek shelter immediately.
According to a US Secret Service statement, an individual retrieved a weapon from their bag near the intersection of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and began firing at its agents. Secret Service personnel returned fire, striking the suspect, who was subsequently transported to a hospital and declared dead.
The Secret Service confirmed that a bystander was hit by gunfire but provided no further information regarding their condition. No Secret Service agents sustained injuries.
CBS subsequently identified the suspect as Nasire Best, a 21-year-old man previously known to the Secret Service. According to a source, Best had been taken into custody in July 2025 after attempting to gain entry to the White House and was later transferred to a psychiatric facility.
President Trump confirmed his absence from the wedding ceremony via Truth Social, writing, "While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so."
