Former NFL QB believes Commanders' Dan Quinn could be on the hot seat

One former NFL quarterback says this season could be it for Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn.

Pro Football Talk co-host and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms highlighted how crucial the start of this season is for Dan Quinn and the Commanders. Simms then went so far as to say that "Dan Quinn could be on the hot seat."

The context was Simms listing whom he thought were the five toughest schedules in the NFL for the upcoming 2026 season. Simms provided his top five in this order: 1) Los Angeles Rams, 2) Denver Broncos, 3) Buffalo Bills, 4) Washington Commanders, 5) Arizona Cardinals. Simms said the Cardinals had the hardest schedule, and they could be looking at 0-13.

Here is what Simms had to say about the Commanders schedule, heading into the 2026 season:

"Man, the Commanders have a tough schedule. Big year for Dan Quinn, could be on the hot seat."

"Jayden Daniels has got to bounce back."

"You look, for the first 11 weeks, they are littered with playoff teams, and the teams that didn't make the playoffs last year? Joe Burrow and the Bengals, the Colts who almost made the playoffs, if Daniel Jones didn't get hurt."

"And they got the Giants twice who are going to be much better. Commanders better get to work."

Simms isn't the first to mention Quinn and the hot seat in the same sentence. There's no doubt that the Commanders cannot afford another slow start in 2026.
