Guy Pearce said he was "deeply sorry" after sharing offensive posts containing "misinformation" in November
The Australian actor said in a statement obtained by Jewish News, "I am aware how sharing inaccurate content can cause confusion and distress"
His apology resurfaced online after the deadly shooting in Australia targeting the Jewish community in Bondi Beach on Dec. 14
Guy Pearce's apology after sharing offensive posts two weeks ago is resurfacing after news of the deadly shooting in Bondi Beach.
In screengrabs posted by Jewish News last month, the Australian actor, 58, had reshared messages on X from Instagram, with one claiming that the “top three pornography companies are owned by Jewish people." Another post suggested Israel was behind 9/11.
Pearce — who was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe earlier this year for his role in The Brutalist — also posted material featuring controversial far-right commentator Nick Fuentes, according to the Nov. 27 Jewish News article.
Other posts he shared included one suggesting Israeli officials were behind the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.
Pearce responded in a statement to Jewish News, “It has been brought to my attention that, in my support of Palestine, I have inadvertently re-posted articles, and/or statements, that have contained misinformation and falsehoods."

"I am aware how sharing inaccurate content can cause confusion and distress; for this I am deeply sorry. I will certainly endeavor to be more diligent in future to verify anything I share online,” he added.
Reps for Pearce did not immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for comment. The actor appears to have since disabled his social media accounts.
Last month, the star insisted he'd be taking a break from social media amid backlash surrounding the posts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Earlier this week, I issued an apology for sharing misleading and inaccurate posts and commentary on social media,” he wrote on X at the time, according to the outlet. “I meant every word of that apology but I recognize that meaningful action must accompany any apology."
"To prevent any further hurt, confusion or damage to others, I will be stepping back from social media for the time being,” Pearce added.

The resurfaced posts from Pearce come after at least 16 people died and 40 were injured after a mass shooting on Sydney's Bondi Beach in Australia on Sunday, Dec. 14. The attack occurred during a Jewish Hanukkah celebration.
New South Wales Police Force confirmed the latest death toll in a news release on Monday, Dec. 15, adding that one shooter — a 50-year-old man — had been "shot by police and died at the scene."
"The other shooter — a 24-year-old man — suffered critical injuries and was taken to hospital under police guard," police added. New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the two shooters involved were a father and son, per BBC News and Sky News.
Police believe the victims' ages range between 10 and 87 years old.
