Kate Middleton admitted to being "notoriously bad" at keeping track of a personal item

The habit inspired the Christmas gifts that Princess Kate got one year

Podcast host Giovanna Fletcher, who interviewed the royal in 2020, made the revelation in a new profile on the Princess of Wales

Kate Middleton's loved ones knew exactly what to get her for Christmas.

In a new profile on the Princess of Wales, The Times revealed that the 43-year-old mom of three has a habit of losing her phone.

Giovanna Fletcher, who interviewed the royal in 2020 for her podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby, told the outlet that Kate "told me that she was notoriously bad at keeping an eye on her phone. She always loses her phone."

"All of her Christmas presents that year were related to her keeping track of her phone…It was all about her not losing her phone," Fletcher added.

However, it's unlikely that Princess Kate frets much over her missing phone. Earlier this year, she penned an essay saying that phones are a "distraction, fragmenting our focus" and fueling an “epidemic of disconnection."

“While new technology has many benefits, we must also acknowledge that it plays a complex and often troubling role in this epidemic of disconnection," Kate said in The Power of Human Connection in a Distracted World, which she wrote with Professor Robert Waldinger from Harvard University.

Phones within the Prince and Princess of Wales' family have also been a topic of conversation this year, as Prince William recently revealed that none of their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — have their own phones yet.

"None of our children have any phones, which we’re very strict about," William, 43, told Eugene Levy on the Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler.

In another interview tied to his Earthshot Prize awards in Brazil, Prince William echoed the sentiment: "Our children don’t have phones. I think when George moves on to secondary school, then maybe he might have a phone that has no internet access," William said, referring to his eldest son moving to a new school next year. "And to be honest, it’s getting to the point where it’s becoming a little bit of a, like, tense issue."

In The Times, Fletcher recalled "how nervous we both were" during her chat with Princess Kate, but there was an unexpected tip that helped them ease into things.

"Thankfully, Prince William came into the room, and he said, ‘Just talk,' " Fletcher said.

It resulted in one of Princess Kate's most candid interviews ever, revealing details of her pregnancy, how she “really quite liked labor" and feelings of mom guilt when she has to leave her children to carry out royal duties.

In addition to parenting, the interview centered largely on Princess Kate's work focused on children. She launched the Centre for Early Childhood through the Royal Foundation in 2021, carrying out studies and programs to raise awareness about the vital development that occurs in children's first five years of life and how it affects their whole lives.

Christian Guy, the center's executive director, told The Times, “One of the key things to understand is that the earliest years — this period of profound human development and the way we build brains and set people up for their future — is a job for everybody. This is a societal cause. This is not just a job for parents and those caring for babies and young children. And she’s very determined to help to inspire and inform everyone who can play their part."
