Skier Mikaela Shiffrin just keeps winning following a redemptive performance at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. Shiffrin continued her fantastic run in 2026 on Wednesday, taking home a record-tying sixth women’s World Cup skiing title.

It was an excellent performance by Shiffrin, who needed a top-15 finish in the giant slalom to secure the win and finish ahead of German Emma Aicher.

Shiffrin was able to pull it off.

With the victory, Shiffrin tied Austrian skier Annemarie Moser-Pröll, who won six World Cup skiing titles in the 1970s. Moser-Pröll won five consecutive titles between 1971 and 1975. She took time off the following year to take care of her father, who was dying from lung cancer. Moser-Pröll returned to competitive skiing the following year, and eventually won the 1979 World Cup skiing title, giving her a record six wins.

Shiffrin’s titles are spread out a bit more. She took home three consecutive World Cup wins between 2017 and 2019. She then picked up two more in 2022 and 2023. After a third-place finish in 2024 and a 15th place finish in 2025, Shiffrin jumped back into into the top spot with her win Wednesday, tying Moser-Pröll’s record.

It marks yet another massive victory for Shiffrin, who took home a gold medal in the slalom at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. That win was redemptive for Shiffrin, who came up empty at the Beijing Olympics in 2022, failing to win a single medal at the event.

With her momentum riding high, Shiffrin will look to break Moser-Pröll’s record in 2027, when Shiffrin will compete for her seventh World Cup skiing title. If she can accomplish that, she can aim for the overall record, which belongs to Marcel Hirscher, who has won the World Cup eight times.
