Alan Ritchson and his wife Catherine Ritchson have split after two decades of marriage.
The couple announced their separation in a joint Instagram post on Saturday.
The two first met in high school and wed in 2006.

The couple announced their breakup in a joint social media post on Saturday. They noted they will continue to work together as co-parents to their three sons Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and Amory, 10.
“After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,” Ritchson wrote on Instagram. “We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world.”
He continued, noting that their priorities lie with their children at this time.
“Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us — or the love and respect we will always share,” he said. “The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be.”

While the two are separating, Ritchson, 43, said that they are working to “give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.” He noted that this major life change “is hard enough without the whole world weighing in” and requested privacy while his family navigates their new reality.
“We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion,” he concluded. “Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority.”

Ritchson previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he met his wife while they were both taking ballet classes at the nearby state college when they were in high school. They bonded while working on a play together that summer, but later split. Reconnecting years later, the couple went on to marry in 2006.
