A never-before-heard Scott Weiland track has been shared.
To mark the 10-year anniversary of his death, a new, previously unreleased song called "If I Could Fly" has been released.
The track, which was initially released for this year's Record Store Day’s Black Friday is now available on streaming and will be on vinyl Dec. 19.
According to a post shared on Weiland's official Facebook page on Tuesday, Dec. 4, the song is “the first unheard song from Scott’s archive since he left us."

“To honor ten years since Scott Weiland’s passing, we’re releasing something truly special for the real fans,” the post read adding that the song is “a previously unreleased track written in 2000 after the birth of his son.”
It continued, "This is the first unheard song from Scott’s archive since he left us. Personal, raw, and a reminder of the heart that ran through all his work."
The post described the song as “personal, raw, and a reminder of the heart that ran through all his work."
“Scott’s legacy spans Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, a stack of awards, and more than 50 million albums sold. But it’s songs like this that show why people stayed connected to him for decades," the post continued.
It noted that the previously unheard song "bridges two generations of listeners and gives back a piece of Scott that’s been held close for 25 years."
On the track, Weiland sings to his son, Noah on the chorus, “If I could fly I would pick you up and keep you safe from the headlights / If I could fly I would lift you up and pull you out of the mudslide.”
Weiland, who had struggled with substance abuse over the years, died in December 2015 at the age of 48.
At the time, Weiland’s official Facebook page confirmed the news.
“Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts,” the statement read. “At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott s family be respected.”
The late musician's manager Tom Vitorino, also confirmed the death at the time.
