Approximately 80-minute tours start at $150 and take place in Queens, N.Y.

Jim Henson’s Creature Shop — which birthed hundreds of the world’s most famous puppet characters, including those from the Muppets, Fraggle Rock, Labyrinth, and Sesame Street — is now offering public tours of its Queens, N.Y., property.

Per an official ticketing site, an approximately 80-minute tour "includes exclusive photo opportunities with beloved characters, a live puppetry demonstration from an actual Henson puppeteer, a meet and greet with one of the Creature Shop's talented puppet builders — and a few other special surprises along the way." Tickets start at $150.

Jason Weber, the shop’s creative supervisor, told the of the tours: “There is a level of expertise here that we’re sharing. It’s not just going to a pop-up store or something like that. Things are made one-of-a-kind, made by hand with artisans who have been trained for years and decades.”
The AP notes that Henson originally founded his New York workshop in the 1960s, and it moved to its current Queens location in 2009. The company also has a workshop in Los Angeles, which is closed to the general public.

Henson died in 1990 at 53; his characters and works have lived on in the 21st century through Disney, which purchased the rights to the Muppets characters from the Jim Henson Company in 2004.
