Sharon Stone has officially become the latest celebrity to subtly challenge the Cannes dress code with an ensemble that defied the festival's ban on "voluminous" outfits. Stepping out for the world premiere of Fjords on May 18, the actress was all smiles in a strapless bedazzled gown and matching cape.

Stone's ensemble came straight from the 2026 couture collection of London-based label Miss Sohee. On the front of the gown, an hourglass panel of lavender fabric covered in floral embroidery and glittering crystals was flanked on either side by rows and rows of intricate black beadwork. Echoing the design of her dress, her black cape also featured scattered crystals up top and more floral embroidery. For added sparkle, Stone carried a bedazzled clutch and wore several carats worth of diamonds. She completed the look with a pair of sky-high platform heels.

As for the dress code, it conveniently makes no mention of capes. Still, Stone toed the line with her billowing accessory, which could have been banned had it threatened to "hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests."

Most famously, nudity is now also prohibited on the red carpet, per the festival's charter. That hasn't stopped A-listers from embracing the naked dress trend, however. Most recently, Gossip Girl alum Kelly Rutherford stepped out in a semi-sheer Giorgio Armani gown for the premiere of La Vénus Electrique (The Electric Venus). Though her black undergarments were on full display, Cannes did not yank Rutherford from the red carpet.

Riley Keough likewise defied the ban with a bra-baring sheer Chanel look just three days later. The look, which included a skirt and blazer with a beaded trim, exposed her blue lace undergarments.

Keough has been a Chanel ambassador since 2023; of this particular look, she told WWD, “It was just one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen in my life.”
