- *The Night Agent* stars Gabriel Basso as an FBI agent swept into a vast conspiracy.

- Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, and Jennifer Morrison are among the stars joining season 3.

- Season 3 premieres on Feb. 19, 2026.

As the sun sets, *The Night Agent *rises.

After Peter Sutherland's season 2 spiral into darkness, star Gabriel Basso is gearing up for another round on Netflix. The hit action series follows his cub FBI agent, who stumbles into a sweeping conspiracy involving assassins, bombings, the upper echelons of the White House, and even his own father.

*The Night Agent* upped the ante in its second outing, with Peter getting enmeshed in a chemical weapons threat and unwittingly swaying a presidential election that sends his moral compass spinning.

“I think one of Peter's great superpowers is his conscience, his ability to know the difference between what's morally right, morally wrong,” showrunner Shawn Ryan told ** in a season 2 post-mortem. “That became more difficult in season 2. Season 1 wasn't that morally difficult for him; it was logistically difficult. But in season 2, we endeavored to make things more and more morally difficult for him.”

And they're only poised to get more difficult in the show's upcoming third season, which is slated for a February 2026 premiere. Here's everything we know so far about *The Night Agent* season 3.

What happened at the end of *The Night Agent *season 2?

As we detailed in our in-depth breakdown of *Night Agent*’s season 2 finale, the episode found Peter preventing a chemical weapons attack at the United Nations Headquarters (with a little help from his friends).

But it also found his past sins catching up to him. A deal he made with billionaire Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum) results in distressing political ramifications, as well as a deal with the FBI to serve as a double agent and bring Monroe down.

It’s all too much for Peter, who ends up severing his relationship with Rose (Luciane Buchanan), a tech wunderkind with her own connections to U.S. intelligence. After telling Rose that she’ll never be safe as long as he’s an agent, she returns to California in the hopes of “starting her life again.”

What does the season 2 cliffhanger mean for *The Night Agent *season 3?

As Ryan told EW, “In that final episode, as [Peter] referred to when he finds out what some of the unintended consequences were of his actions, I think he feels a great deal of guilt and responsibility that I think will carry us into season 3 for him to try to make up for that.”

In order to deal with those consequences (and, you know, stay out of prison), Peter takes a deal with the FBI to become a mole in Monroe’s organization. "Gain his trust. Uncover every snake on his payroll. And then, expose. Destroy," says Peter's handler, Catherine (Amanda Warren).

“So I think he's trying to figure out what kind of person he can be and [whether he] can maintain his moral center doing this kind of work,” continued Ryan. “And I think that's where he arrives at the end of season 2, and it'll be his starting point, I think, for season 3.”

What is *The Night Agent *season 3 about?

According to its official synopsis, season 3 will find Peter "called in to track down a young treasury agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss."

It continues, "This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process."******

Speaking with Netflix's Tudum, Ryan described the new season as “an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride across Istanbul, Mexico City, Washington, New York, and the Dominican Republic."**

Is there a Night Agent season 3 trailer?

The first teaser for *The Night Agent* season 3 arrived on Thursday, Dec. 4.

The brief clip depicts Peter scooping up the aforementioned treasury agent (played by Suraj Sharma) at a soccer stadium before rapid-firing through a series of action-packed teases: brawls, car chases, blazing fires, and masked assassins.

We also get a look at a new character played by *True Blood* alum Stephen Moyer. "Who are you?" he asks, to which Peter (predictably) responds, "I'm a night agent."** ****

As with the first two seasons, Basso will lead the new episodes as Peter. Returning cast members include Amanda Warren (Catherine Weaver), Albert Jones (FBI Director Aiden Mosley), and Ward Horton (Richard Hagan). Herthum, who plays billionaire Jacob Monroe, will also help anchor the season.

So far, there's no sign of Buchanan's Rose, a key figure who departed for California at the end of season 2. We will, however, see more of Fola Evans-Akingbola, who played Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington in season 1. The character was mostly absent in season 2, but resurfaced in the finale. It's now confirmed she'll be a major player in season 3.

“We loved the character of Chelsea in season 1 and Fola who played her, and I had to call her at one point and say, listen, we're breaking season 2, and I don't think there's a storyline here for you, and it has nothing to do with your ability or what you did on the show,” Ryan told EW following the season 2 finale. “And then right at the end, we found a place to put her in, and now I believe she'll be a part of season 3.” **
